Supporter Member

The Supporter category of membership in AMMI Canada is designed for individuals who wish to engage with the Association and benefit from select resources and opportunities. This category provides a pathway for professionals and students who have a connection to Infectious Diseases, Medical Microbiology, or related fields but do not meet the criteria for other membership categories.

ELIGIBILITY FOR SUPPORTER MEMBERSHIP

The Supporter category is open to individuals such as:

Physicians and surgeons whose qualifications and merit align with the goals of the Association, however, do not meet the requirements for ACTIVE members.
Individuals with a doctorate degree in related fields, however, do not meet the requirements for ACTIVE members.
Registered Nurses, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Epidemiologists, Public Health Professionals, Infection Control Practitioners, etc.
Post-secondary, undergraduate, and postgraduate students not enrolled in residency or fellowship programs in Infectious Diseases, Medical Microbiology, or Clinical Microbiology.

RIGHTS AND BENEFITS

Supporters receive access to select benefits and opportunities offered by AMMI Canada, allowing them to stay informed and connected within the field.

Supporters may receive notice and attend the annual general meeting (AGM) but do not have voting rights.
Supporters may join committees or working groups but are not eligible to serve as chairs.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants must submit an application form, including evidence of their qualifications, endorsed by an Active Member in good standing. The application will be reviewed by AMMI Canada, and upon approval, an invoice detailing the annual fee and payment instructions will be issued. Supporter status is confirmed upon receipt of the first year’s fees.

SUPPORTER YEAR AND FEES

Supporter category of membership fosters a connection to AMMI Canada and provides opportunities for professional engagement and growth within the field.

The supporter year aligns with the calendar year: January to December.
Annual fees: $62.00 + applicable taxes (based on the province of residence).

DUES PAYMENT POLICY

Annual dues must be paid within six (6) months of the renewal date or before registering for any member-discounted events, such as the Medical Microbiology Review Course or the Annual Conference. If dues remain unpaid after the six-month period, the supporter status will be revoked, and the individual will no longer have access to supporter benefits.
