Position Summary
The Microbiologist provides scientific and medical expertise in the field of microbiology, supporting laboratory operations, quality assurance, and clinical consultation. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory staff, physicians, and public health partners to ensure accurate and timely microbiological testing and interpretation.
Key Responsibilities
-Provide oversight and consultation for clinical microbiology laboratory services; including daily plate round consultation for medical technologists.
-Interpret microbiology test results and provide expert guidance to healthcare providers through direct phone consultation and client service support.
-Support the implementation, validation, and optimization of microbiological testing methodologies.
-Monitor laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs.
-Provide review and guidance for laboratory policies, procedures, and best practices.
-Participate in accreditation, regulatory, and compliance activities.
-Investigate and support technical, quality, and operational laboratory issues.
-Support medical scientific, medical technologist and laboratory support staff
-Provide education and mentorship to laboratory staff, trainees, and healthcare professionals.
-Participate in quality improvement and service development projects as appropriate.
