Summary of Locum Opportunity
The Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Program at Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS) is seeking a qualified and highly motivated Medical Microbiologist to locum with the Public Health and Microbiology Laboratory (PHML) located in the city of St. John’s. The successful candidate will join a group of clinical and medical microbiologists, with collaboration among molecular and diagnostic pathologists, hematopathologists, and clinical chemists providing the province with tertiary and quaternary laboratory care.
The successful candidate will provide Medical Microbiology (1.0 FTE) services, including participation in the on-call roster shared across microbiologists. Microbiologist responsibilities within the division are determined by the Division Head in collaboration with the microbiology team and considering individual interests and skill sets. The successful candidate is expected to build relationships and provide timely expert consultative services to physicians and health care providers, and work closely with all clinical care teams including, but not limited to, the Antimicrobial Stewardship team, Infectious Diseases, Infection Prevention and Control and Medical Officers of Health.
